Medical Weight Loss… That Makes Sense

Our ancestors were right. When you feel under the weather, chicken soup is good medicine. It so happens that soup made from whole chickens is rich in carnosine, which fights off damage to the body from viral infections. Even the steam from the broth is a welcome extra that somehow helps us breath better.

Doctors have been treating diseases in a similar way for some time. Whether you suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes; there’s a diet for that. And if you follow the diet to the letter, palpable improvements in your health are gained.

So why is it that when we gain weight – steadily or unexpectedly – we don’t go to the doctor?

Well now you can.

SKINovative is introducing the Center for Medical Weight Loss program to residents of Gilbert and surrounding cities.

What is the Center for Medical Weight Loss (CMWL) Program?

It is a weight loss program delivered by board-certified physicians who are trained in clinical nutrition, exercise and behavioral counseling to help you lose weight, and keep it off.

On your first visit, a complete medical history will be taken. You’ll be asked about your health conditions and about any over-the-counter or prescription medications you are taking.

A Body Composition Analysis (BCA) will be done. A BCA provides an accurate measure of percentages of body fat, muscle, and water. Your pulse and blood pressure will also be measured.

At this point, you are ready for a one-on-one consultation with your CMWL doctor to discuss your specific challenges and goals.

By the end of your visit, your doctor will review the customized plan with you, which is designed specifically for your metabolic rate, activity level and motivation.

Congratulations! You’re on your way to losing weight and feeling healthy. During your journey, you can look forward to building rapport with your medical provider and staff who will be monitoring your progress and helping through each phase of the program.

How Does the Medical Weight Loss Program Work?

Every phase of your personal program will provide a daily meal plan low on calories. All plans consist of highly nutritional foods designed to keep you healthy. You will go through three phases:

Quick Start, Transition and Maintenance:

In phase one or Quick Start, your program consists of a low-calorie diet that can only be prescribed by a medical provider. You will be provided with high-nutrient foods designed for rapid, safe weight loss.

In phase two or the Transition Period, you will continue on a low calorie diet with some adjustments. By now, you have lost weight and notice a change in how you look and feel. You will continue on a low calorie diet, but add more of the foods you love. Your medical provider will monitor your levels of activity and continue to counsel you.

In phase three, or Maintenance, you have reached your personal weight loss goals. You’ve learned how to make smart meal choices and you are leading a healthier life. As a bonus, you may be completely off any prescribed medication to treat a chronic condition.

Welcome to the new you!

How Long Will I Stay on the Program?

Your time on the program depends on which program you are on and how much weight you need to lose. It also depends on your motivation to reach your goal. As we all know, losing weight does not happen overnight. It takes time and perseverance. Rest assured that our professional staff at SKINovative are there to see you succeed and ensure your ongoing success.
